UK-based radiation oncologist and founder and CEO of RT-ABC (www.rt-abc.com), set up to educate radiation oncologists in the treatment of benign conditions. He is passionate about this subject and has treated more than 3000 patients with radiotherapy for benign conditions.

Dr Shaffer co-wrote the Royal College of Radiologists guidelines for benign conditions. He was responsible for the English translation of the German (DEGRO) benign radiotherapy guidelines in 2022. He has written and reviewed multiple scientific papers and textbook chapters, including co-authoring the first American case series of radiotherapy for osteoarthritis (2025). Additionally, he is Medical Director of XStrahl Limited (www.xstrahl.com), and is a member of the International Target Volume Group for Benign Diseases.

He previously worked in the NHS for 25 years, including 10 years as a consultant treating brain tumours, skin cancer, prostate cancer, and bladder cancer. He held various leadership positions including clinical lead for radiotherapy and radiotherapy development, and developed and led the stereotactic radiosurgery program in Surrey.
